The following PUBLIC STATEMENT was released on Thursday, April 12, 2001
by Mr. Tom Padgett:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

    South Orleans, Massachusetts - on April 10, 2001, an agent for the
Office of Special Affairs,
a gestapo-like arm of the Scientology alternative mental health
corporate structure, posted allegations regarding my character and
purported events of a DUI arrest to a public usenet news group.  Because
of this action from an individual only known as "morgan@ my-deja.com," I
am compelled to address this matter.  Said author of this report titled
it "LMTer ARRESTED."

     On December 19, 2000, at approximately 10:00 PM, I was pulled over
by local policeman in Middleborough, MA with the explanation that I had
made a wrong lane change.  The officer asked to conduct a field sobriety
test.  This said test consisted of heel-to-toe steps for nine
(9) paces and waiving a chrome pen in front of my face and asked to
follow with my eyes from left to right at a distance of 6 to 8 inches.
I failed the test because I have a bad right knee
in need of medical attention and therefore could not place much weight
on both legs, and I did
not have my reading glasses with me to focus
on the object being so close in front of me.  At that time, I was
arrested, handcuffed, and placed into a squad car.

     I was not arrested for failure to take a breathalyzer test.  I did
not "refuse" to take a
breathalyzer test.  I was booked, fingerprinted, and placed behind bars.
Within two (2) hours I was released on my own recognizance after phone
calls were made by the Middleborough police to people who knew me
personally.

     Because of the nefarious and harmful motives of the Dianetics /
Scientology organization, and the hostile attitudes and actions of a
small handful of court officers
in wester Kentucky, I have been advised by legal counsel to direct any
further inquiries to
